WHO IS RHINO?

CBPO JON A. UNDERWOOD, (Ret.)

Prior to joining the US Customs Service, Officer Underwood, a National Eagle Scout Award recipient, (class of 1975), Initially served as a US Marine Corps reservist, Basic Warehouseman (MOS 3051) and then as a US Army, Military Policeman, (MOS 95B3hh3) attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

SSG Underwood, served 2 tours in West Germany, receiving the German Army Marksmanship Award, Schutzenschnur, in Bronze. 1 tour in the Republic of South Korea, 2 assignments as a US Army Military Police School Instructor. Served for 2 years as a Primary Marksmanship NCO. Additionally qualified as a Physical Security Inspector, (PSI) and also as the Rhineberg Military Community, NCOIC for Personal Security Detail Operations, providing Flag Officer’s and Department of Defense (DOD) designated civilian’s personal security in the northern West Germany, terror-threat environment.

Jon, as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO),  was the responsible officer for the initiation of the Non-Intrusive Cargo X-ray Inspection Program (MTXR) at the Port of San Luis. Additionally, Officer Underwood has served as a TDY Instructor at the US Customs and Border Protection Academy, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Brunswick, Georgia. Officer Underwood also completed a 2 year assignment as a Container Security Initiative (CSI) Officer, Port Klang, Kingdom of Malaysia. CBPO Underwood qualified for the Distinguished Expert Marksmanship award for over 15 Years with US Customs and US Customs and Border Protection. CBPO Underwood also served was selected as a member and Duty Officer of a Sanction Assistance Monitor (SAM) team in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) OBSERVING and DOCUMENTING VIOLATIONS of UN Related Sanctions against Serbia and Montenegro.

Jon and his beloved Wife, Janet, have been married now for over 34 Years. They have been blessed with 2 children. Their Son, (Jon Michael), an Iraq War Combat Veteran with the US Army First Infantry Division, has a daughter, Isabella. Their Daughter, (Megan Marie), is single with 2 Daughters,  Makayla and Kaylee.

Jon Has recently lost his Father, SFC Jack Underwood USA, (Ret.), A WWII,  3rd Infantry Division (3ID) Combat Veteran having been awarded the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) as well as the World War TWO, German Occupation medal.


 
Jon is now retired, due to an on-duty injury, from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) with over 30 Years of active Federal Service.

In 2011, Jon was appointed as a Republican Party Precinct Committeeman in Yuma Arizona.
